The Story

And you would think that a golf course with a clubhouse this nice and a view this amazing would be at some swanky country club, but it's not. So our public golf course, our membership is $600 for the year for membership, which is very cheap, for what you get here for our amenities and stuff. All you do is pay your green fee and your cart fee when you come to play golf and you get to enjoy this view, which is the Union County Community Center.

And now we home the development authority, the Chamber of Commerce, the Pro Shop, the View Grill. You can go upstairs and have lunch, have a drink at our bar with the best view in town, just walk upstairs and take a look outside as you enjoy your meal. When you can see why they call this place the view, it's incredible.

But it's not all about golf. The Union County Community Center also offers residents and guests fantastic gathering places, whether it's to tie the knot or have a meeting or a conference. Well, we have three meeting areas in our room. We have a huge ballroom upstairs that's connected to our grill. We offer catering also to that room, and we have a conference room for anyone to come into town, have conferences in our meeting room upstairs. People do brag about it. They walk in here and they're blown away that this is just nestled up here in our county and that you go in, you walk into our bathrooms, you just feel like you're at a hotel, a five-star hotel.

Without SPLOST funding, we would not have buildings like this. This is a great opportunity for the community and it brings in revenue and people come to play golf and they stay in our town.

Funded by SPLOST

This project was made possible through the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST), allowing Union County to invest in community improvements without increasing property taxes.
